Support the PA-IPL postcard campaign for Energy Efficiency Resource Standards
What are Energy Efficiency Resource Standards (EERS)?
They’re national standards for energy efficiency, just like we have in Pennsylvania (Act 129).
Like mileage requirements for cars, industry actually wants national standards instead of various state standards, and we want them because waste and inefficiency make up a huge part of our carbon footprint.
We're urging our U.S. senators to include EERS in comprehensive climate and energy legislation this year.

Help Interfaith Power and Light (IPL) urge our senators to include national standards for energy efficiency in comprehensive climate and energy legislation this year by holding a postcard signing at your place of worship the weekend of July 25 and/or Aug. 1.
PA-IPL, Pennsylania’s new IPL affiliate, has committed to contributing at least 250 signed postcards to the effort by Aug. 4, and they need our help! We need signed postcards in hand no later than Aug. 2 so we can send them to PennFuture, PA-IPL’s partner in this effort, before the deadline.
Here you'll find everything you need for a quick postcard campaign:
- Explain the issues with a bulletin announcement either a week before your postcard signing event, or the day of. Make sure to customize it with the information on when and where people can sign postcards.
- Download and print these letter-sized postcards for folks to sign. People need only sign one postcard; we'll copy them to make sure they get to both U.S. senators.
- Put up a tri-fold display using the images and texts from this downloadable Power Point presentation.
- Put up a few fliers that you can customize with this down-loadable template, telling people what, when and where.
- Set out this information sheet on Pennsylvania Interfaith Power and Light for people to take home with them
Let us know if you can help!
If you are planning to offer a postcard signing at your place of worship or elsewhere, please let us know as soon as possible by e-mailing Sylvia Neely at sneely@la.psu.edu or Barb Ballenger at barbballenger@gmail.com so we can coordinate picking up the signed postcards from you. It’s important that we collect them rather than having individuals mail them so we can keep track of the scope of the response.
And please let us know immediately if you are having trouble downloading or printing the material.
